I opened up the blinds in my living room and noticed a girl about 9-years-old walking up the street in my direction. She had a curious stride. She'd walk ten feet or so and then take a smaller step, walk another ten feet and then lunge into a step.
I instantly knew what she was doing.
Avoiding cracks.
I spent an entire childhood stepping over cracks for the love of my mother.
As the girl approached the front of my window, I smiled at her. She didn't see me. She was too busy stepping over the cracks, taking care of her mother's back.
I wish her and her mother a long, long healthy, painfree life.
