A day in my life
I love this time of year. It is so beautiful and breath-taking.
This is how I spent my weekend. The Autumn in all it's wonder and splender gets me feeling so rejuvinated. I feel its hug.
Autumn reminds me of putting on my running shoes to go for a run, or saying yes to the hair designer who wants to cut my hair in layers... or biting into an after dinner mint and tasting the white gooey center.
In those moments I am so happy with delight I can't remember what follows....
And then it hits me.....
I realize that I don't like running. I forget that as soon as I say yes to layers, I can not wait for them to grow out. And the dinner mint. Oh! The dinner mint! It looks so dark and delicious but as soon as I bite into that soft, seemingly melted mint... my tongue pushes it forward and I need to dispose of it instantly into my napkin.
Autumn is just like that to me.
As soon as the scissors start to clip. Or I start to run. Or I bite into that gooey center... i remember what follows and my joy is over with.
It is called Winter.

Wow. Like National Geographic!
wow those are gorgeous shawn! makes me want to relax with a glass of wine. And those were excellent metaphors! Like in a final flash of glory, then all those trees will be barren.
Looks as if you are in WHINE country, Shawn. Remember, we need the winter to appreciate fully all the beauty of the other seasons. Winter has its merits - the blazing fire, with wine; the long, brisk walk, followed by wine; the holiday events, where wine is offered.
You're right! We do need the winter to fully appreciate all the beauty of the other seasons. And then there's always the wine. That tastes good in all seasons. :O)
Where the heck do you live? These photos are gorgeous! You have a great writing style, loved the running, the layers and the mint descriptions with a nice little finish at the end with winter. You made me smile!
So amazing to see all those colors, it must be like driving thru a painting each day you go to work.
Thanks LWN! I took those pictures in Sonoma County in Northern California.
Oh Doodlestreet! It really is like driving through a painting. I keep thinking it feels like I'm driving through the cover of a jigsaw puzzle box! Pretty much the same thing! :O)
Beautiful sceneries ... I don't think I'll fall asleep driving on this road :) *I’m notoriously narcoleptic when driving on straight boring freeway.
