They took everything (and) the kitchen sink
And to think it all started after I opened up my kitchen wall.
There is a fine soot of dust covering everything. I can taste it settling on my lips and it stings in the corners of my eyes.
There are pieces of plaster, bits of wood and general rubble that has collected all along the walls and between board slats.
I have been without a sink and stove for nearly two weeks. I am camping out in here. It took me 45 minutes to come upon my can opener last night to heat up string beans in my microwave. I'm tired of breaking plastic forks in my mouth while I chew or the way the plastic spoon cuts the sides of my lips on the inside of my mouth.
I will have a new kitchen after all this. And once the dust settles a bit more, I will write about it and show more photos.

oh maaan! uhhh...you are basically camping in your own house! and to such an extent!...
But I know one thing, once that new kitchen is in....it's like you'll be in a new house.
I know what you mean...my bedroom and bathroom are all torn up and we are sleeping in Adam's room!
Hi Danny! Good point! As an adult, out of my parent's home, I have never lived in the same place for more than five years. I've lived in this home for 4-1/2 years, so I think that's why I'm remodeling the kitchen. It will be like a new house.. just like you said.. helping curb m y 5-year-itch.
Oh dear diane. Your bedroom and bathroom? I only know too well what you are going through. Happy to be traveling the dusty road with you.
Any stashes of money tumbling out of the wall when you pulled the cabinets out? I'm guessing if that DID happen, you would be writing about all the shopping you are doing instead!
Hang in there!
Oh, wow! This so does not look like any fun at all.
Having a new kitchen will be wonderful, but what a rocky road to get to it, eh?
I know what you mean about the moving. We've moved to a new state or country every 3 years. We've been here for almost 4 years and I feel so odd about it. Like we're missing the train or something.
Ohh, Shawn, I hope when your new kitchen is done you can look back to this rough time and say, "It's all worth the hardship/misery/etc."
I have not only gutted my own kitchen (see my blog) but I have had the pleasure of remodeling many others kitchens in my day. My goal was to let my clients know that whatever they thought would be bad...triple bad, time and trauma! How are you doing?
