It's just another doodle thought

Are you ever sitting in a plane and you look out your window and wonder where everyone is?

I love it when we're flying low and about to land and I can peer down at all the swimming pools in people's backyards.

But where are all the people? Why don't I see a guy mowing his yard or a woman walking her kids to the park or the mailman delivering mail. Where are all the kids swimming in their pools or riding their bikes?

I see cars and buildings and homes and parks but I never really see actual people. From a certain distance, entire populations seem to just get swallowed up in thin air. Their cars remain, but they don't.

Is it an earth repellent safety mechanism to keep out curious peeping UFOs wondering if there are living beings on earth?

Ohhh the things I think about while laying in bed when I should be sleeping....

Come to think of it, Ive never seen people either! Cars and houses and pools, yes. Hmmmm, maybe from the top down, people don't have much of a visible profile, but you'd think there'd be somebody IN the pool sometimes!
Yeah good observation, Shawn! keep up the good work! :o)

Yeahhh, insteresting, huh? Where are they? Maybe you are right. When they have good postures and are standing upright, the tops of their heads are kinda small from the plane...and so they don't have much of a visible profile. It's nice to talk to you about this. I was on facebook and took a "how large is your brain?" quiz and the end results were I had the size of a cat brain. A CAT BRAIN thank you very much. So then again, what do i know?

Have you even gone on that ride, Peter Pan, at Disneyland? Whenever I fly into somewhere at night and get to that same point you talk about, it always looks like Peter Pan lights to me. --

You're not just laying there in bed; you're thoughts are seeping into my brain! Spooky. It seems we ride the same night train for I know of what you speak waaaaay toooooo often!
Also fascinating are the planted fields - they are so amazing from above. The patterns and the way the crops are laid out to fit in just right is awesome. Makes me realize how I sometimes limit my imagination.

Thats such a really sweet thought doodlestreet. I HAVE been on the Peter Pan ride but that was a long, long time ago! And I love everything about Peter Pan so I will keep that in my thoughts the next time I fly in at night. Twinkling Peter Pan lights.

Kate. I love that we are traveling on the same night train. Next time you see me sitting there please have a seat next to me. I bet we'll havva lot to talk about. :O)

I like looking out the airplane window, too. I like to observe the way the roads snake through the hills, how the irrigation circles look on the farms, etc.

I like to look down at those curvy roads 'snaking' through the hills too, and wonder how did they decide when to make the road curve this way and that way. I wonder what those road builder's lives were like being out there so far from their homes and families laying down cement to help our transportation. I also wonder if I know anyone who has travelled that very same back road and there's the possibility that I have and I realize being up there on the plane, it's really a small world after all.

Yes, I do wonder about it. I see cars, houses, trains, etc. but no people. I remember the first time I flew there were people, little round dots moving about on the ground or in the pools.
I think we've just become a psuedo-subterranian society. Staying in our houses where it's safer, cleaner, quiter, cooler...and that is so sad.
People need to be out and about, talking to other people, communing and conversing and complaining.

That's a keen observation, Shawn. Perhaps Doodlestreet is right, everyone is in their house blogging :)

*I know someone who likes to check out Google World. He would look up people's houses and say, "Hey, Luci, I can see your dog in the backyard eating your tomatoes."

Haha everybody is in blogging :) that's funny and probably true! I loved that ride at Disneyland called Sorybookland where everything is teeny-tiny from the view of Tinkerbell! It reminds me of that :) I really enjoyed looking at all your posts and I sure do love that beautiful old white house and your lunchboxes, awesome!!! Thank you for your very sweet words about my Ratboy, it means alot Shawn :)

Thanks ya all for your comments. It meant a lot to me. That story, Luci... where your friend says.. "I can see your dog eating your tomatoes".. has a lovely sense of humor! I've been to disneyland and went on that tinker bell ride and WHY oh WHY do I not remember that lovely small lighted town as you all remember?! I must go back to Disneyland! Maybe in March when I return to Palm Springs. I haven't visited Disneyland since the mid-80s! Much too long!
