Are you Left Brain or Right Brain?
Do you see the dancer turning closewise or counter-clockwise?
According to an article in the Australian Herald Sun, they report that if you see the dancer spinning clockwise then you use more of the right side of the brain. But most people see her dancing counter-clockwise because more people use mostly their left side of the brain.
I function with my right brain. Which side do you mostly use? Look at the spinning dancer and see which direction she is spinning.
RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking
LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

OK, this is weird because I cannot see how anyone would see her going in any other direction but clockwise! I've tried squinting or blurring my eyes but she is still twirling clockwise! I'll have to ask my hubby to look at this tonight... he's definitely the left brain type.
Hey, Shawn, I just presented you with a blogger award... come check it out on my blog! :)
Good to hear your just overworked! We missed you at the BBQ. Nobody video taped the pinata. Your fabric looks marvelous! Portland is always fun.
BTW, we will be on the Outer Banks the week of July 13.
Ken Starr
OKay, wait a second. Early this morning I looked at this, and it was going clockwise, then I looked again and it was counterclockwise...now I just came back and it is clockwise again! Maybe I'm using both sides of my brain...?? ooh...that's scary...
Oh Ms Mod! You my dear is a right-brainer which is a no-brainer to me. I look forward to hearing which direction your hubby sees this woman spinning! Thank you so much for the blogger award! I feel so honored and touched. I really appreciate you so much!! Thaaaanks!
Aww Ken. I so meant to call you and Mrs. Starr and the days beforehand escaped me! Thank you so much for the BBQ invitation and I felt sad to miss it. It's one of the main events I look forward to in going to every year!!
I am also jealous of your trip to the outerbanks! Can i fit in a suitcase? I so want to be there!! I just bought a plane ticket to the Howdy State of Texas the week following that.
Spuddy! I'm not surprised you're using both sides of your brain today. You've got lots going on... work and vacation to keep both sides occupied. :O)
Interesting - I keep seeing both. .........
I guess thats why I first majored in math in college then switched to design.
I first saw counter clockwise then clockwise. Just like my college major choice! Math....no........design.
I see it going clockwise, and I, too, squinted and looked and looked, trying to figure out how anyone could possibly see it going counterclockwise......THEN, I accidently scrolled my screen so that when you look at her, you only see her legs from the thigh down.... suddenly, I saw her turning counterclockwise, so I slowly scrolled the screen so that I could see all of her.....AND THEN....after a second or so, she changes directions and goes back the other way. Try it!
Yes, she is definitely spinning clockwise. I tried to force my eyes to view it counter-clockwise and for a brief moment could see it, but it didn't seem 'right'...
Hi Janet! I tried your technique and she didn't change directions for me, but I was doing some graphic design work that needed some left-brain calculating and guess what? I immediately checked and saw her spinning counter-clockwise!
Bren... you're so left brain/right brain it doesn't surprise me. So perfectly balanced, I bet she spins around in equal turns.
Clockwise. Are you sure people think she spins the other way? Doesn't seem possible.
Yeahh, it's possible. I know this because after I was using my left brain I looked at her spinning and she was actually spinning the other way! :O)
This is too weird! I don't think I like it. I don't like thinking that my brain is flip flopping back and forth. It's just not right.
It's just not right. But it's also just not left. A nice happy balance between the two. :O)
Wow! I could not even TRY to get this to look like it's spinning counter-clockwise. But that makes sense, I sure as heck am not a logical thinker. I am right brain all the way.
Very cool!
Oops... speaking of not using logic. Most logical people would not be so excited to post their blather that they can't even take one second to fill in their name.
The above "anonymous" post was yours-truly.
Okay, so I have looked at this, and it's going back and forth every time I look at it. Are you sure it is not a computer illusion? My fiance and I are thinking we are nuts because it spins one way for a few minutes and back the opposite for the next few!
You're so cute Michele. Thanks for letting me know that it was you. Yeahh, I'm so right brain.. that I must walk leaning to that side.
Hi Amanda! Thanks for visiting! It really isn't an illusion. Did you and your fiance see her change her dance the same exact time? Because then that would certainly raise my eyebrows. I was talking to someone recently who saw this post and said that she saw the woman spinning clockwise while her husband saw her change and start spinning the other way all the time she continued to see her spin clockwise.
I bet you two are so balanced in your brain that you keep seeing it switch from right to left. Which is really interesting to think about.
But take notes to see if she changes the exact same time for each other....
